Pakistani Shia Scholars Condemn Trump’s Alleged Threats Against Leader of Islamic Revolution, Reject Gaza “Peace Delegation” Plan

A group of Shia scholars in Pakistan has strongly condemned the insulting remarks and threats by US President Donald Trump against the Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, warning that any hostile action would carry serious regional consequences.

Hawzah News Agency- Speaking at a press conference, senior clerics and members of Pakistan’s Shia religious establishment denounced the statements attributed to Trump as provocative and irresponsible, and said they amount to an unacceptable escalation against a major religious and political figure in the Muslim world.

The speakers warned that any harm directed toward Ayatollah Khamenei would trigger widespread backlash across the region, adding that responsibility for the fallout would lie with Washington.

The scholars also rejected reports of Pakistan joining what they called Trump’s proposed “Gaza Peace Delegation,” describing the initiative as illegitimate, unconstitutional, and contrary to Pakistan’s national interests and public sentiment.

According to participants at the conference, the so-called Gaza peace framework does not serve genuine conflict resolution but instead advances US and Israeli strategic interests under a diplomatic label. They claimed the plan would sideline international institutions, including the United Nations, and reshape regional dynamics through pressure rather than consensus.

Clerics at the event said the proposal, in their view, prioritizes Israeli security concerns while failing to safeguard Palestinian national and humanitarian rights. They argued that developments since Operation al-Aqsa Storm show that resistance groups remain a key factor in the conflict and warned against efforts to disarm such groups through multinational arrangements involving Muslim-majority countries.

Hojatoleslam Seyyed Nazer Abbas Taqvi, a senior member of the Shia Scholars Council of Pakistan, said support for the Palestinian people and resistance groups would continue, adding that the high Palestinian death toll cannot be politically negotiated away. He described the use of Muslim forces against Palestinian factions as a divisive strategy aimed at creating rifts within the Islamic world.

Conference participants also criticized financial and political conditions reportedly attached to participation in the Gaza initiative, calling them coercive and reflective of power-based diplomacy.

The scholars issued a set of demands to the Pakistani government, including maintaining an independent foreign policy, avoiding participation in any initiative they say benefits Israel at the expense of Palestinians, and formally protesting to the United States over threats against Iran’s top leader through diplomatic channels.

They concluded by urging Pakistan’s political leadership and state institutions to prioritize national sovereignty, founding principles of the country, and broader Muslim world concerns over external pressure.
